Portugal registers 362 new cases of COVID-19, an unprecedented number in more than a month

The Portuguese health authorities reported 362 new cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours this Wednesday, an unprecedented number in Portuguese territory since July 15, bringing the tentative balance of positive results for coronavirus to 56,274.

The Ministry of Health has also reported two more deaths, a total of 1,807 since the pandemic began. The two deaths, like six out of ten new infections, correspond to the Lisbon and Tajo Valley region.

The boom in Portugal over the past few weeks has increased COVID-19 cases that are still active to 13,283, while 311 continue to be admitted to hospitals, 38 of them in intensive care units, according to the Portuguese newspaper “Publico”.
