The Portuguese authorities reported 328 new cases of COVID-19 this Thursday, a number that again exceeds the rate of people who have overcome the disease in the past 24 hours and that the Lisbon region has as an epicenter of infection.
With the most recent cases, 42,782 have been confirmed in Portugal since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Of the last 328, 273 correspond to the Lisbon and Tagus Valley regions, where measures have been tightened due to the increase in infections in recent weeks.
The Portuguese Ministry of Health’s latest record also includes eight other deaths with a total of 1,587 deaths, while 510 patients are hospitalized, 77 of them in intensive care. Recovered patient data rose to 28,097, 299 more than on Wednesday.
Spain and Portugal hosted the reopening of the common border with their respective heads of state and government on Wednesday with a double ceremony in the Spanish city of Badajoz and the Portuguese city of Elvas.
