The Portuguese authorities reported 291 new cases and six coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours this Sunday. This is a significant drop compared to Saturday’s data, when 342 infections and eight deaths were reported.
A total of 46,512 positive and 1,660 deaths due to the new disease have been recorded in the Bulletin of the Directorate General for Health of the Portuguese government since the outbreak of the epidemic in Portugal.
Five deaths were recorded in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley regions, while the sixth was recorded in the North region. Of the total new daily cases, 226 correspond to Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, 78 percent of the total.
In addition, 252 people have been discharged in the past 24 hours, for a total of 30,907 patients who have recovered across the country since the epidemic began. There are 13,945 active cases, which is the subtraction of deaths and layoffs from the total number of confirmed cases.
462 are added for hospital stays, three more than on Saturday. Up to 64 of them are in intensive care units due to the severity of their situation.
