Portugal confirmed on Sunday that it has exceeded the total of 50,000 infections since the coronavirus epidemic was reported in the country and has registered 209 cases in the last few hours.
The country now registers 50,164 cases and 1,717 deaths after another death has been confirmed in the past few hours. This is evident from the balance of the Directorate-General for Health, which was collected by the Portuguese newspaper “Publico”.
Portugal exceeded this threshold 146 days after the first case identified in the country on March 2.
Otherwise, the number of patients hospitalized in intensive care units dropped again to 48, the lowest level in more than four months (March 24). The number of hospital patients also fell again: from 410 yesterday to 403.
In Lisbon and the Tajo Valley, there were 25,448 cases this Sunday, 155 more than the previous day, which means that more than 74% of new infections are concentrated in both regions.
