The Portuguese health authorities reported 575 cases of COVID-19 and 11 deaths in the past 24 hours this Wednesday, allowing the country to further reduce the number of active cases and move forward with the stabilization of the coronavirus pandemic.
Portugal has so far accumulated 818,787 positive results after adding data for this Wednesday, which is the highest number of infections in the last week. In addition, the virus’s reproduction rate is also increasing, although it still stays below 1 (0.91).
At least 16,805 patients have died, 712 remain in hospitals, 155 of them in intensive care units, reports the Portuguese newspaper “Publico”.
By region, Lisbon and the Tagus Valley remain the hardest hit. 262 cases are ahead of the North, where 142 positive results have been confirmed, and the Center, where another 68 are concentrated.
