The Directorate General for Health of the Portuguese government reported eight deaths and 342 other cases of coronavirus within 24 hours on Saturday, with 46,221 confirmed infections and 1,654 deaths.
The eight deaths in the past 24 hours have been recorded in the Lisbon region and in the Tajo Valley, with 22,385 confirmed cases. The new infections concentrate on 75.7 percent in the capital region.
The number of admitted persons has decreased from 471 to 459, although the number of patients in the intensive care unit has increased from 66 to 68 according to the latest bulletin. In addition, 30,655 patients were recovered, 305 more than on Friday.
There are 18,068 cases (67 more) in the northern region; followed by center with 4,255 (another); Algarve with 695 cases (seven more) and Alentejo with 570 cases (eight more). The Azores remain in 153 cases and Madeira with 95.
The region with the most deaths remains in the north (821), followed by Lisbon and the Tajo Valley (535), the center (250), Alentejo (18), the Algarve and Açores (15 each).
