DTG Member Adherent is to launch an interesting portable MPEG test unit at NAB 2000, Las Vegas.
The AD954 portable Stream Grabber is for field engineers working on compression equipment installation and service, making MPEG-2 DVB or ATSC testing and debugging simpler.
The unit has a simple-to-use interface giving lap top control, and clear graphical displays feed back real time information for on-the-spot debugging. It is small enough and light enough to take anywhere, and can be slipped into the pocket of a laptop case and be ready for instant use. Stream Grabber enables the field engineer to capture transport streams for in the field analysis or delivery to RD engineers for further testing. It works at bit rates of up to 90Mbit/s, where it can record up to 30 seconds of transport stream. It weighs only 1.3kg and yet has full recording, monitoring and analysis tools. It requires a power supply of less than 1amp at 6V DC, and can therefore be powered from the laptop or from a small external power supply. It is rugged and designed to stand up to use in the field.
