The Peruvian Ministry of Health has confirmed that the number of citizens infected with coronavirus (COVID-19) in Peru has risen to 629,961 and the death toll has reached 28,471 in the last 24 hours, coinciding with the expansion of the state of emergency in Peru and the “targeted” quarantine through Sept. 30 amid the increase in cases.
The balance hits that total after reviewing an additional 2,876 new cases and an additional 194 deaths on Friday. It should be noted that 438,017 people were made redundant. Another 12,595 will be hospitalized.
This way, the COVID-19 quarantine will be imposed in four of the country’s 24 existing departments as well as in 46 provinces of 12 other jurisdictions by that date.
“Establish a quarantine in the provinces and departments indicated in the attached table, in which the movement of people is only permitted for the provision and access to essential services and goods, as well as for the provision of services for economic activities, authorized the entry into force of this Supreme Decree”, said the government, according to the newspaper “El Peruano”.
