Peru overcomes the barrier of 10,000 coronavirus deaths with more than 290,000 cases

The Peruvian Ministry of Health reported this Thursday that the country has exceeded the 10,000 coronavirus deaths, while it has already confirmed more than 290,000 positive results.

According to the balance offered by the health authorities, Peru has 10,045 deaths as a result of COVID-19. This number puts the Andean country in tenth place in the ranking of the countries with the most deaths behind Iran, according to the table prepared by Johns Hopkins University.

The number of infections rose to 292,004 this Thursday after 3,527 have been confirmed in the last 24 hours. With 160,901 infections, Lima is still the most heavily affected by the coronavirus in the Peruvian region. Callao stands behind her at 18,230; Piura at 17,336; Lambayeque with 13.904 and La Libertad with 10.333.

However, the Peruvian Ministry of Health has highlighted that this Thursday had “one of its best dates” related to the pandemic, as the number of people recovered exceeded the number of new infections for the sixth time in a row.
