Peru is moving towards the 500,000 accumulated cases of COVID-19 and nearing 21,000 deaths

The Peruvian Ministry of Health reported an increase of 3,307 new positive results this Saturday, bringing the accumulation of 471,012 cases in a country where the death toll rose to 20,844.

In the past 24 hours, health officials have counted 195 new deaths, bringing the total death toll to nearly 21,000 five months after the first death from COVID-19 was recorded in Peru.

The Andean country is currently in a state of emergency until August 31, by order of the government, which has also extended selective quarantine in certain areas to the same date, albeit with a few changes to the measures imposed during that period last month.
