Peru has more than 26,600 deaths and nearly 550,000 COVID-19 infections

The Peruvian Ministry of Health this Tuesday confirmed the deaths of 26,658 people due to the COVID-19 disease, while the number of accumulated cases is already 549,321.

In their latest report, the Peruvian authorities added 177 new deaths and 4,565 additional infections, while 374,019 people have already managed to overcome the disease.

For her part, Health Minister Pilar Mazzetti has announced that Peru will receive 800,000 new molecular tests in the next few days, which will allow about thirty laboratories across the country to diagnose the disease in a maximum of two days.

“With this number of molecular tests, I hope that we can already compete with other countries internationally,” said Mazzetti, who hopes to reach a million in the near future.
