Peruvian health authorities have confirmed that 2,724 coronavirus infections have been detected in the past 24 hours, bringing the country to 1,910,360 cases.
Of these, and after adding 209 new hospital discharges on the final day, 1,852,686 patients have recovered while 67,253 have died from complications from the disease, a number reached after the 219 deaths included in the epidemiological record this Thursday are included.
On the other hand, the Health Portfolio has reported that there are still 12,350 patients being hospitalized for COVID-19, of which 2,679 are being admitted to intensive care units.
Health Ministry spokesman Arturo Granados assured in an interview with América Noticias this Thursday that from this Friday, May 21, the vaccination rate in the country will increase to 50,000 doses a day.
Also with regard to the vaccination strategy, the head of the health portfolio, Óscar Ugarte, has pointed out that while vaccinating the entire Peruvian population before the end of 2021 is “a very important challenge”, “nothing is impossible”.
