Peru exceeds 8,000 deaths and the government continues to rule out reopening of bars and cinemas

The Peruvian Ministry of Health reported this Sunday that the country has reached 8,045 deaths and 254,936 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed, while the government rules out that bars and cinemas can be reopened in shopping centers starting Monday.

The daily death toll this Sunday was 184, with Lima being the deadliest victim to date due to COVID-19, a total of 3,674 of the 8,045 that occurred across the Peruvian area.

Lima continues to be the region with the highest number of infected people. 144,623 positive results were recorded in the capital with 16,986, well ahead of Callao. Piura, 15,389 cases.

Health authorities have also reported that there are still 10,566 people in the hospital, of whom 1,137 are in intensive care.
