Peru broke the barrier of 400,000 coronavirus cases on Wednesday after registering nearly 11,000 more in the past 24 hours. This is clear from the latest balance sheet published by the country’s health ministry.
The data provided by the health authorities show an increase of 10,966 positive results, so that the global calculation of the Andean nation is now 400,683 infected people. In terms of COVID-19 deaths, Peru has 18,816.
Despite these numbers, Peruvian Health Minister Pilar Mazzetti has repeated that the number of pandemics is slowly increasing and has rejected the idea that the country is experiencing a “flare” of the corona virus.
“The increase in numbers is slow and luckily we have at least not had any regrowth so far,” said Mazzetti, as the local newspaper ‘El Comercio’ reports.
