Peru exceeds 320,000 cases of coronavirus with more than 3,000 new infections

The Peruvian Ministry of Health reported this Saturday that the country has exceeded 320,000 cases of coronavirus with 3,064 new positives in the last 24 hours.

In particular, Peru has confirmed a total of 322,710 infections since the pandemic began, and 11,682 people have died of COVID-19 in the country, with 182 more deaths added on the last day.

Lima remains the country most affected by the pandemic. In the Lima metropolitan region in particular, a total of 163,294 positive cases have occurred, while 10,947 cases have occurred in the provinces. Other regions most affected by the pandemic are Callao with 19,012 infections; Piura at 18,536; and Lambayeque with 14,912.

Health authorities have reported that a total of 11,932 patients will be hospitalized as of this Saturday, including 1,315 in intensive care units.

So far, 214,152 of the overall positive cases have completed their isolation phase or have been released from health centers after overcoming the coronavirus.
