Peru passed the threshold of 455,000 cases of coronavirus this Thursday, a number it hit after confirmation of more than 7,700 in the past 24 hours. This is evident from the latest balance offered by the country’s Ministry of Health.
The Peruvian health authorities have encrypted the 7,785 new infections registered, bringing the total for Peru to 455,409 positive. In addition, the Latin American country has already recorded 20,424 deaths this Thursday, with 196 deaths from COVID-19.
Likewise, the Peruvian Ministry of Health has stated that 13,659 people are currently hospitalized for the disease, 1,426 of whom are in intensive care units with mechanical ventilation. So far 310,337 people have managed to recover from COVID-19 in the Andean nation.
Peru has been in a state of emergency for 144 days. This implies that “the exercise of constitutional rights relating to personal freedom and security, the inviolability of the home, and freedom of assembly and movement in the territory are restricted”.
