Peru already exceeds 300,000 accumulated cases of COVID-19 and 10,500 deaths

The Peruvian Ministry of Health said on Sunday that the number of cases in the country is already 302,718, while that of the deceased is 10,589.

The Lima metropolitan area, with 155,958, caused almost half of all cases in Peru, in addition to 4,297 deaths.

The province of Callao is the next region with the highest number of infections, 18,406, but the third with 658 deaths. Piura in the north of the country has 17,838 positive and 799 deaths.

Despite the figures from the capital, the Peruvian government, along with other departments, decided a week ago to lift containment measures, unlike the Arequipa, Ica, Junín, Huánuco, San Martin, Madre de Dios, and Áncash regions, which were affected by the recent outbreaks are under targeted quarantine.
