The Peruvian Ministry of Health has expanded the balance of coronavirus cases in the country by almost 4,000 additional infections this Tuesday, bringing it close to 334,000 positive infections.
According to the health authorities, 3,774 new infections have been identified in the last 24 hours, so that the worldwide number has increased to 333,867. In addition, after the 175 newly registered deaths in Peru, there are already 12,229 deaths from COVID-19.
In the meantime, the Lima region, most affected by the Andean pandemic, has requested to return to quarantine due to the increase in the number of cases.
The regional government and the mayors of the municipalities of Lima have agreed to propose to the Peruvian executive to include the area in the so-called “focused” quarantine, which has only applied to certain areas in the country since July 1 – Arequipa, Ica, Junín, Huánuco, San Martin, Madre de Dios and Áncash – which register a high number of virus transmissions.
