Panama has nearly 100,000 coronavirus cases after registering 673 more in one day

The tentative balance of coronavirus cases in Panama is already close to 100,000 after the Ministry of Health reported 673 new infections on Thursday, while the number of active COVID-19 cases in the Central American country more than exceeds 25,300.

As of this Thursday, 99,715 people in Panama had tested positive for coronavirus, of whom 2,127 had lost their lives due to COVID-19 causes, eleven more than the previous day. The number of hospitalized patients is 1,277, of whom 135 are in the intensive care unit.

The anti-corruption prosecutor has opened an investigation to investigate the purchase of ventilators that arrived damaged in four public hospitals. According to the Panamanian newspaper “La Prensa”, the errors were reported by health workers to former Health Minister Rosario Turner.
