A Palestinian was killed in a clash with the Israeli military at a checkpoint in the West Bank after uniformed officers opened fire on Thursday evening against several people suspected of starting fire devices.
The incident occurred in the Kifl Haris area near the city of Salfit after at least two people attacked a checkpoint, according to the Israeli army. The soldiers responded by opening fire on the attackers, reports the DPA agency.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health has claimed that a 34-year-old man who was shot in the neck died of the consequences of the shootout. Even though he was taken to Salfit Hospital, the doctors could do nothing to save his life.
According to the WAFA news agency, a second 17-year-old man was wounded after being hit by bullets from the Israeli military.
Local authorities claim that the two Palestinians are not a threat to the life of the military and reaffirmed their criticism of the Israeli security forces, who accuse them of always overreacting in response to a possible threat in occupied territories.
