July 27, 2020

Prominent opponent Tundu Lissu, who has announced his intention to run for the next presidential election in Tanzania, returned to the African country on Monday after more than two years of medical treatment in Belgium after an assassination attempt in 2017.

Lissu was greeted by hundreds of people at Dar es Salaam city airport, including the head of his party, Chadema, including the president of the formation, Freeman Mbowe.

Police spokesman David Misime had warned of mobilizing opposition supporters, stressing that “the organizers must notify the authorities 48 hours in advance.”
