While the football club Atlético de Madrid declared itself the winner of the league title in the Spanish José Zorrilla Stadium, the winners were also registered in the digital world. They were the owners of the NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens) that have appreciated the most this season: Oblak (94,300 euros), Kroos (87,000 euros), Llorente (56,300 euros) or Militao (18,300 euros). This was reported to Cointelegraph in Spanish by the fantasy football platform Sorare.
They explained by means of a statement: During the 2020/21 season, around 15,000 Spanish users could not go to the stadiums, but played their own competition, enjoyed the performance of their teams every day and exchanged digital cards (tokens) with other fans. The value of these cards increases depending on the player’s performance on the field and his level of exclusivity. A limited number of players are distributed each season, classified as rare (100), super rare (10) and unique (1 only for each player per team per season).
They also said that So far, Spanish players have exchanged more than two million euros for trading cards on the fantasy football platform Sorare.
The most valuable ones sold so far – related to La Liga players – were those of Jan Oblak (€ 9,500) and Thibaut Courtois (€ 3,858) among goalkeepers; Emerson (€ 7,631) and Thierry Correia (€ 6,032) in defense; Kroos (€ 9,988) and SaÃºl (€ 9,105) in the middle of the field; and Joño Felix (€ 18,900) and Maximiliano Gómez (€ 12,210) as strikers.
On the other hand, they stated that the Spaniards are among the Europeans who spend most of their time on this fantasy football platform: an average of 90 minutes a day, surpassed only by the British who spend 95 minutes a day.
In addition, users from other countries are showing great interest in the Spanish La Liga and have marked Spanish clubs as favorite teams: Real Madrid CF (43,964 fans), FC Barcelona (28,806 fans), Club Atlético de Madrid (7,611 fans), Valencia CF (1,123 fans) Pendant).
