The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has blamed the “Trocheros” who illegally cross the Venezuelan-Colombian border for the outbreak of the Corona virus in the country.
“The trocheos have been the main vectors for the virus in the past eight weeks,” said Maduro. “We had an outbreak that we are following in some states of the country. An explosion of imported cases has occurred since May 15, which was found at border crossings,” he added to the Venezuelan newspaper “imltimas Noticias”.
In particular, he referred to the “explosion of imported cases” registered since May 15 due to the activity of “30,000 Trochers” who have entered the country “infected by evil”. “No fewer than 3,000 infected people who passed by quietly,” said Maduro. “I denounced it in time. Iván Duque infected our country because of the evil (…). Let us denounce the troubadours!”
In any case, Maduro has pointed out that the outbreak in Venezuela “remains low compared to other countries such as Brazil, Colombia or the United States”.
The latest official bulletin contains 332 new cases in the past 24 hours, of which 79 have been imported and eight correspond to traveler contacts. There are a total of 7,169 confirmed cases. In addition, two Venezuelans have died, and there are currently a total of 65 in the Caribbean.
