DUBAI, Sep. 17 (Reuters / EP) –
Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has warned the US government Monday that its “maximum pressure” policy against the Islamic Republic will “fail,” according to the Iranian state television network.
“The Iranian authorities will never dialogue with the United States. This is part of their policy of putting pressure on Iran and that policy of maximum pressure will fail,” said the Iranian supreme leader.
Ayatollah Khamenei's message comes after the latest tensions between Washington and Tehran about the bombing of Saudi oil facilities carried out over the weekend by Huthi rebels with drones.
The United States insists that Iran supports and has supported the Huthi rebels in the war and in those air strikes against Saudi oil facilities that have caused cuts in crude oil production.
