The Kurz OVP is clearly imposed in the Austrian elections

September 29, 2019

The Austrian People's Party (OVP) of Prime Minister Sebastian Kurz has clearly imposed itself in the early legislative elections held on Sunday with 37.1 percent of votes, according to projections on real vote collected by the Austrian news agency APA.

Kurz would thus take advantage of the humiliation of the Austrian Freedom Party (FPO), which falls ten points compared to the last elections and stands at 16.7 percent support, affected by the scandal known as 'Ibizagate'.

In second place would be the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPO), which reaps its worst historical result of the Austrian Second Republic with 22.5 percent support, 4.4 points less than in 2017. Behind are The Greens ( 13.1 percent, its historical maximum) and the liberal NEOS, which goes from 5.3 to 7.8 percent.
