Pyongyang Welcomes Hundreds of Foreigners for Yearly Marathon

The winner of the women’s full marathon was a North Korean, Kim Hye Gyong, who came in at 2 hours 27 minutes and 24 seconds, with her twin sister, Kim Hye Song, narrowly behind her.

“I’m glad that I was able to fulfill the expectations of the people,” Mr. Ri, the men’s winner, said.

The event has helped the growth of North Korea’s tourism industry since 2014, when it started to allow foreign amateurs to take part.
