Macron announces that Europe prepares “new tax cuts” to stimulate growth

August 25, 2019

BIARRITZ (FRANCE), Aug 25 (Reuters / EP) –

The president of France, Emmanuel Macron, said on Saturday that Europe “probably” will decide to apply further tax cuts to reactivate a declining economy threatened by the US-led trade war.

“When I think about the case of Europe, (I think) we need new tools to re-launch our economy,” Macron said during his meeting with the president of the United States, Donald Trump, before a working lunch in Biarritz, where leaders of the G7 meet over the weekend.

“We will probably decide to apply new tax reductions, which is one of the ways to relaunch the economy” in coordination, he explained, without giving further details.
