BRUSSELS, Aug. 17 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The president of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, has interrupted his vacations in Austria to be urgently subjected to a surgical operation to remove the gallbladder, as announced by his press office.
“Juncker has had to cut his vacation in Austra for medical reasons. He has been taken back to Luxembourg where he will undergo a cholecystectomy or gallbladder removal surgery,” explains a brief official statement.
Luxembourg's Juncker will be replaced at the head of the Commission on October 31 by the German conservative Ursula von der Leyen, who will thus become the first woman in charge of this institution.
