DUBAI, 21 Aug. (Reuters / EP) –
The Iranian semi-official news agency ILNA said Wednesday that the tanker 'Adrian Darya 1', who was released after being arrested in Gibraltar, has been leased to the country's Revolutionary Guard.
The United States has issued an order to capture the oil tanker because it had links with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard of Iran (IRGC), which it regards as a terrorist organization.
“It is worth noting that the Grace 1 vessel, renamed Adrian Darya after the seizure, is a Russian-made Korean-made tanker currently leased to the Revolutionary Guards,” ILNA said, without citing sources.
Iranian oil tanker Grace 1, renamed 'Adrian Darya 1', left Gibraltar on August 18 and the ship's tracking data showed that he was heading for the Greek port of Kalamta.
