Cuba denounces at the UN that the US promotes coups, assassinations and sabotages in Venezuela

MADRID, Sep 28 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Foreign Minister of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, denounced this Saturday before the UN General Assembly that the United States promotes coups, assassinations and sabotages in Venezuela and has defended the legitimacy of its president, Nicolás Maduro.

“We endorse without hesitation the legitimate Government presided by fellow Nicolás Maduro and condemn the conduct of the United States government against Venezuela, focused on the promotion of coups, assassinations, and economic warfare and sabotage,” he said before the 74th period of sessions of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Rodríguez has also assured that in the last year the US Government has qualitatively increased its actions of hostility and blockade against Cuba. Specifically, it has denounced an increase in “criminal, unconventional measures” to prevent the supply of fuel to Cuba.

Washington resorts to the threat and persecution of companies that transport fuel, registration and flag governments and shipping companies and insurance companies, he explained. “As a result, we have faced severe difficulties in guaranteeing the fuel supply required for the daily activity of the country,” he said.

“It has imposed additional obstacles to foreign trade and increased the persecution of our banking-financial relations with the rest of the world. It has extremely limited travel and any interaction between the two peoples. It hinders the links and contacts with their homeland of Cubans living in the United States, “he said.

This situation has forced Cuba to adopt temporary emergency measures, “only possible in an organized country, with a united and supportive people, willing to defend themselves from foreign aggression and preserve the social justice achieved.”

Rodriguez has criticized that the administration of the US president, Donald Trump, blames Cuba for the failure of its plan to overthrow the Venezuelan government, while attacking the international medical cooperation programs that Cuba shares with dozens of developing countries.
