Colombia’s Foreign Minister will visit Spain and Ireland on his tour of Europe

Colombian Foreign Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo will visit Spain and Ireland in the framework of his tour of Europe, where he plans to meet with senior officials, academics and businessmen, as reported in a statement on Sunday.

Holmes Trujillo will meet on Monday with the president of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, with whom he will discuss the social, political and economic crisis that Venezuela is going through, as well as the measures to be put in place from the Lima Group so that the country ” can live in democracy and freedom. ”

There he will offer a conference entitled 'Peace with Legality in Colombia and regional and global challenges' before holding a meeting with experts and senior officials of the European Union. The first day of your tour will end with the inauguration of the Colombian Embassy in Ireland.

It is also planned to meet with the president of the Chamber of Deputies of Ireland, Seán Ó Fearghaíl, with whom he will address the process of stabilization and peaceful coexistence in Colombia, the complaint by Colombia of the presence of illegal armed groups in Venezuela and migratory flexibility for Colombians visiting Ireland.

On September 18, the minister will arrive in Madrid, where he will meet with the Secretary of State for International Cooperation for Latin America and the Caribbean, Juan Pablo de Laiglesia. Later he will hold a meeting with the general secretary of the Spain Spain Council Foundation, Jaime Lacadena Higuera.

On Thursday he will hold a bilateral meeting with his Spanish counterpart, Josep Borrell, with whom he will address issues of bilateral cooperation, such as support for the high flow of Venezuelan migrants, the multidimensional crisis in Venezuela, investment and culture. In addition, both will discuss the commitments made during the recent visit to Colombia of the High Representative of the European Union and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.

Before returning to Colombia and finally, Holmes Trujillo will meet with the former president of Spain Felipe González.
