YAMENA, Sep 26 (Reuters / EP) –

At least 30 people have died as a result of a landslide in a gold mine in northwestern Chad, the defense minister of the African country reported Thursday.

Speaking to Reuteres, Mahamat Sala has indicated that the mine, which is located near the border with Libya, collapsed early Tuesday and there could be more buried victims.

The event has occurred in the province of Tibesti, under a state of emergency since last August as a result of the presence of armed groups.
