MADRID, Sep 27 (EUROPE PRESS) –

At least one Palestinian has died this Friday because of shots fired by Israeli security forces near the border with the Gaza Strip, in the framework of a new day of mobilizations in the Palestinian enclave.

Palestinian sources cited by the Palestinian news agency WAFA have indicated that the deceased, identified as 20-year-old Saher Auadalá Yaber Ozman, has been shot several times in the chest during a protest east of Rafá (south).

They have also added that another 34 Palestinians have been injured by real fire and more than 30 by firing rubber bullets and tear gas, including a child and four health workers.

An Israeli Army spokeswoman has said in statements to the Reuters news agency that the Israeli military has not used real fire and has accused participants in protests of throwing Molotov cocktails and explosive devices. “The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have responded with riot control,” he stressed.

The protests have happened almost weekly in the Gaza Strip since the beginning in March 2018 of the 'Great March of Return', which started to claim the right of Palestinian refugees to return to the homes where they previously resided of the creation of the State of Israel in 1948.
