New Zealand allows meetings of up to 100 people after the third day in a row without new cases being announced

May 25, 2020

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced this Sunday that meetings of up to 100 people will be allowed from Friday to allow for more religious celebrations, including weddings and funerals, which were previously limited to 50 guests.

This measure is announced after the country has not registered a case of the new corona virus for the third time in a row. The government has therefore decided to make room for the next phase.

“There can be many more meetings. These changes are good news for the business,” Ardern said during his regular appearance to the media to take stock of the pandemic situation.

“Now, more than three weeks after reaching level 3, we can be very sure that there are no new cases related to the relaxation of restrictions,” said the Prime Minister to justify this new government decision.
