The Mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio, has withdrawn and postponed the full reopening of the restaurants, which was scheduled for July 6. This decision would have been made in accordance with the state authorities.
“It is not the time to eat in the restaurants again, it is the time to double the effort when it comes to drinking on the patios,” said De Blasio, who confirmed that the bars and patios Cafés remain open.
The mayor has therefore drawn attention to the increase in cases in states such as Florida, California and Texas. “We see that there is a clear problem with the fact that people go back to restaurants and bars,” he complained.
He said that the city will offer help to restaurants to expand their terraces. “I am convinced that we can help restaurants to survive, but we have to do it on the terraces and with all security measures,” he said.
