New York state governor Andrew Cuomo has reported 299 new coronavirus deaths within 24 hours, an “offensive high” number that has now reached 18,909 deaths since the epidemic began.
The number assumes ten more deaths than on Friday and includes 276 deaths in hospitals and 23 in nursing homes. “It’s a number that is still objectionable and frighteningly high, and continues to decline at the rate we want,” said Cuomo at his daily press conference.
There were 831 new hospitalizations for Covid-19 in numbers, a slight decrease compared to recent days. A total of 10,300 are in hospitals, including 2,923 with intensive care ventilators. There are also 4,663 new positives for a total of 312,977 people infected in the State of New York.
In the antibody study, 19.9 percent of the population had antibodies to the coronavirus, which is below the maximum of 24.7 percent, which is April 27.
