New cases of coronavirus continue to grow in India and more than 11,000 have been confirmed for the first time

June 13, 2020

India continues to increase its number of new coronavirus cases and has confirmed another 11,455 in the past 24 hours, one day after the daily threshold was first exceeded at 10,000.

The 11,455 new positive results have increased the country’s global balance to 308,993. According to the Indian Ministry of Health, 8,884 deaths from COVID-19 have been recorded in India so far.

India is the fourth country most affected by the pandemic, only behind the United States, Brazil and Russia, and after the UK’s over-delivery. Taking into account the data of the deceased, Johns Hopkins University puts it in eleventh place.

The successive records of infections and deaths come from India at a time when the gradual lifting of restrictions to contain the pandemic is already underway. In March, the Narendra Modi government ordered the detention of 1.3 billion people.

The epicenter of the disease is in large cities such as Bombay or New Delhi, but the return of workers to migrant areas fears that the virus may spread to areas where medical care is poorer. The Supreme Court has instructed the authorities this week to facilitate the return of these workers.
