Netflix had its best night at the Academy Awards and received seven awards Oscar out of 31 nominations, including two wins for Black ground by Ma Rainey and two for Deficiencyand directed all studies. The only downside to the streamer night was that it lost the best picture to Disney’s Nomadland and was banned from acting awards.
Netflix won in the hair and make-up and best wardrobe for categories Black groundand production design and cinematography for Mank. It also won best documentary for My octopus teacher, the best live action short film for Two Distant Strangers and the best animated short film by When something happens i love you.

However, Netflix was set to win the Oscar for best actor for the deceased’s performance. Chadwick Boseman on Black ground by Ma Rainey, but the surprise winner in that category was Anthony Hopkins for The father (Sony Pictures). Other winners were Nomadland for best picture, best director Chloé Zhao and best actress Frances McDormand; Daniel Kaluuya as best supporting actor (Judas and the black messiah) and Yuh-jung Youn for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Minari.
