Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi has announced a new 30-day extension of the state of emergency imposed by the coronavirus, although he has indicated that a gradual de-escalation will begin in the country during this period.
Nyusi stressed that the situation requires “responsibility and sacrifice”, adding that “the return of activities will be gradual and cautious, therefore the restrictions will be lifted in stages and by sector”.
It was pointed out that the first phase will begin on August 18 with the reopening of places of worship and the restart of teaching in college and vocational training courses, in addition to a permit for the increase of assistants at funerals as long as the deceased does not attend Coronavirus died.
The second phase begins on September 1 with the reopening of cinemas, theaters, casinos and gyms, while on October 1, the 12th year classes reopen. In contrast, pre-school and primary school depend on the assessment of the situation in the centers.
