Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zajarova has accused NATO of launching a disinformation campaign against Russia and China over the pandemic of the new coronavirus originating in Wuhan, the Russian news agency Sputnik said.
In a message on her Facebook account, the department spokeswoman, headed by Sergey Lavrov, said that the Secretary General of the Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, made it clear in an interview with the Italian newspaper “La Repubblica” that NATO has launched a campaign of disinformation against Russia and China for the corona virus.
“NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg has clearly defined his (election) direction: Russia and China are spreading a lot of disinformation and trying to change the world order in connection with the Covid 19 coronavirus pandemic.” The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Thursday that Russia and China are using disinformation to increase their influence among the Allies and to destabilize them during the pandemic.
In response, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov assured that the European Union had accused Russia of disinformation but had not provided any concrete facts to support the allegation.
