The Moroccan government announced on Sunday that it would introduce detention in some of the country’s major cities after midnight, after a recovery has been confirmed in some cases.
In view of the considerable increase in cases of Covid-19 contamination in various prefectures and provinces in recent days, it was decided from this Sunday, July 26th, at midnight to ban travel to and from the cities of Tangier, Tetouan, Fes, Meknes , Casablanca, Berrechid, Settat and Marrakech “, according to the official news agency MAP.
This Sunday, the country’s health ministry confirmed 633 new cases, a total of 20,278 of which have been affected since the epidemic was declared. The death toll has reached 313 and has registered eight new deaths in the past 24 hours (4 in Tangier, 2 in Marrakech, 1 in Casablanca and 1 in Sidi Kacem).
This decision does not apply to people with urgent medical needs, people who work in the public and private sectors with mission orders from their managers, provided they have received special travel authorization from the local authorities.
