More than 700 Nicaraguan health professionals have issued a manifesto against Daniel Ortega’s government’s “outrageous and implausible” strategy against the coronavirus pandemic, denouncing that they have received threats to expose the situation.
“The unprecedented and implausible strategy of the Nicaraguan government in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic is still the same,” they regretted, “despite the call from various organizations and experts to implement significant changes,” he continues to normalize normal. “
The 716 signatories have warned that this not only “puts economic issues ahead of the health of the Nicaraguan people”, but makes the country “a potential focus of spreading the infection to the rest of Central America.”
In this sense, they have assured that “the precarious public health system is in the process of saturation, with a high likelihood of collapse in the coming days, which threatens the general population due to the lack of a high risk of death, health resources to fight the epidemic”.
