The United Nations Integrated One-Dimensional Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) has announced new advances in operations against the Return Reconciliation and Rehabilitation (3R) armed group in the northwest of the country in recent weeks.
MINUSCA emphasized that Operation ‘Ala Londo’ (Idos) has enabled international forces and Central African troops to take over the city of Niem and added that “progress continues in areas previously controlled by 3R”.
“The ‘Ala Londo’ military operation is continuing in the northwest,” he said of his report on the social network Twitter before adding that the taking of Niem was without a fight because the militiamen of the group led by Abbas Sidiki left the area without Resistance.
The city of Niem was one of the bastions of this group, which announced on 10 July that it would cease hostilities and call for a ceasefire in the joint offensive that the RCA and MINUSCA had waged against them a month earlier. .
