June 12, 2020

A total of 14 Minneapolis police sergeants and lieutenants publicly condemned the behavior of former agent Derek Chauvin, who was accused of killing black man George Floyd after kneeling his neck for almost nine minutes.

“Derek Chauvin failed as a human being and George Floyd lost his life and dignity,” officials complain in an open letter stating that they speak in their personal capacity, rather than that of the civil servants’ union, the police department, or the United States Government. “We are not like that,” they insisted.

The signatory’s spokesman, Paul Omodt, has assured that there were many more police officers willing to sign the letter, but those responsible have chosen to target a representative group of “men, women, white cops, blacks, heterosexuals.” and “restrict homosexuals”.
