Mexico tops 60,000 coronavirus deaths and 550,000 cases

Mexican health officials have reported that the country has recorded more than 60,000 coronavirus deaths and 550,000 confirmed cases since the pandemic began.

The director of epidemiological operations research Ana Lucía de la Garza has said the country has recorded 644 deaths from the pandemic in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 60,254.

On June 4, Undersecretary of State for Prevention and Health Promotion Hugo López-Gatell assured that the country would suffer more than 60,000 deaths in a “very catastrophic scenario”.

In terms of the number of cases, the health authorities added 6,482 new positives and the cumulative number of cases is 556,216.
