Mexico surpasses Spain as the sixth country with the most deaths from COVID-19 by more than 28,500

The Mexican Ministry of Health confirmed a total of 28,510 COVID-19 deaths this Wednesday, meaning that the Aztec country is already the sixth country with the highest number of deaths for this reason, and Spain surpasses it with 28,364.

Mexico has overtaken Spain in deaths after 741 new deaths were registered on the last day, although 2,204 deaths are still related to the disease.

At their usual press conference, health authorities led by Under-Secretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, reported 231,770 accumulated cases, of which 138,319 belong to those who have managed to overcome the disease.

López-Gatell used his appearance to announce that almost 50,000 new doctors have so far been hired through the Institute for Health Care (INSABI), despite the fact that 240,000 specialists still lack toilets.
