Mexico surpasses 720,000 coronavirus infections, despite the fact that a first state manages to turn the green light

The Mexican Ministry of Health has reported that the country exceeded 720,000 coronavirus infections this Friday, despite the fact that Campeche state managed to be the first to pass a green epidemiological traffic light – according to the color system that regulates the start of activities in the country.

So far, and as reported by the Director of Health Promotion, Ricardo Cortés, 16 Mexican states are still at risk of yellow and 15 orange.

Health officials have said a total of 75,844 coronavirus deaths have been confirmed in the country, up from 405 on the final day. In addition, 5,401 new positive results were confirmed, bringing the total to 720,858 since the pandemic began.

The director of epidemiology in Mexico, José Luis Alomía, has said the number of active cases is 35,973, 5 percent of the total, according to El Universal newspaper.

In terms of hospital occupancy, it has been reported that there are 29,987 general beds, of which 21,478 are available, while the number of mechanical ventilation beds is 10,764, of which 8,065 are vacant and over 2,600 are occupied.
