Mexico overtook the UK on Saturday in the number of coronavirus cases and exceeded 295,000 infections in the country. It is the seventh country to be most affected by the pandemic in terms of the number of positive cases worldwide.
The Mexican Ministry of Health has reported that 6,094 more infections and 539 deaths have been confirmed in the last 24 hours, bringing the number of pandemic deaths to 34,730 and the total number of cases to 295,268.
According to the health authorities, a total of 180,852 Mexicans have recovered after overcoming the coronavirus.
With these figures, Mexico outperformed the United Kingdom in terms of the number of positive cases, as the country has confirmed 290,502 cases so far, according to Johns Hopkins University.
