Mexico is nearing 75,000 deaths and already topping 710,000 accumulated cases of COVID-19

The Mexican Ministry of Health this Wednesday confirmed 710,049 accumulated cases of coronavirus and 74,494 deaths from the disease, despite the recovery rate already topping 70 percent.

The director of the Institute of Epidemiology of the Mexican Government, José Luis Alomía, reported at the last appearance of the health authorities that after more than 1.6 million tests on the last day, 34 percent of positive cases were registered.

646 new deaths and 4,701 more infections have been recorded in the past 24 hours, while 82,549 cases are still classified as suspicious, despite 510,237 people, 71.85 percent of the total, having already managed to overcome the disease.

Alomía also pointed out that in Mexico in the past two weeks, the number of new positives has decreased by 18 percent, while cases deemed active have decreased by 3 percent over the same period.
