Mexico hits 537,000 cases and is already topping 59,000 coronavirus deaths

The Mexican Ministry of Health confirmed a total of 537,031 accumulated cases and 58,481 deaths this Wednesday, the third with the highest number of deaths behind the US and Brazil since the pandemic began in the country in late February.

The Mexican Government’s Undersecretary of State for Prevention and Health Promotion Hugo López-Gattel has reported from the National Palace that there have been 707 new deaths and 5,792 additional positive results in the past 24 hours.

To these recent deaths we could add some of the 2,360 currently under investigation that are suspected to have occurred due to COVID-19 disease.

López-Gattel has highlighted that so far more than 1.2 million tests have been carried out to detect the new coronavirus, with a positive rate of around 45 percent.
